Dear colleagues,
We are delighted to host the upcoming German Plant Breeding Conference from 19-21 March 2024 at Geisenheim University in the beautiful Rheingau, Germany. The German Plant Breeding conference is the main biannual scientific conference of the German Society for Plant Breeding and brings together researchers and breeders from public organisations and commercial plant breeding.
The theme of the upcoming conference 2024 is “Accelerating Crop Genetic Gain” and the program will cover a broad range of topics with relevance and potential to accelerate the crop genetic improvement process, incl. advances in genomics, phenotyping technologies, predictive breeding, quantitative genetics, biotechnology and precision breeding.
We have already confirmed a great line-up of keynote speakers including Mark Cooper (University of Queensland, AU); Agnieszka Golicz (Justus-Liebig-Universität Giessen; DE), Hans Daetwyler (Bayer CropScience, NL); Daniela Bustos-Korts (Universidad Austral de Chile, CL); Dorcus Gemenet (CGIAR-NARS, MX); Holger Puchta (Karlsruhe Institute for Technology, DE).

Registration and abstract submission are open and we warmly welcome abstract submissions for talks/posters covering diverse topics related to plant breeding research from both public and private organisations. We particularly encourage and invite early-career researchers to submit an abstract to present their work at the upcoming conference. The submission deadline is the 20th December 2023, so please share this within your networks.
In addition, for the first time a „Next Generation Breeders“-Workshop for PhD students and Postdocs will be held from 17-18 March 2024 directly ahead of the GPZ main conference. The workshop is co-hosted by Lee Hickey (Uni of Queensland), Morgane Roth (INRAE) and myself. Early-career researchers who are interested in attending the workshop can submit their expression of interests using the following link:
