German Plant Breeding Conference 2024

“Accelerating Crop Genetic Gain”

19 – 21 March 2024

Geisenheim University, Germany

 

We are happy to announce that the next “German Plant Breeding Conference” in combination with the General Assembly of the Society for Plant Breeding (GPZ) will take place at Geisenheim University, Germany from 19-21 March 2024.

Under the theme „Accelerating Crop Genetic Gain“, there will be a high-quality scientific program covering the latest developments and innovations in plant breeding that can help to deliver accelerated rates of genetic gain to sustain and improve future agriculture.

There will be high-quality research contributions and networking events that bring together academic breeding research and commercial plant breeding. We are very excited to announce that we could already confirm keynote talks by Mark Cooper (University of Queensland, AU), Agnieszka Golicz (Justus-Liebig-Universität Giessen; DE), Hans Daetwyler (Bayer CropScience, NL), Daniela Bustos-Korts (Universidad Austral de Chile, CL), Dorcus Gemenet (CGIAR-NARS, MX), Holger Puchta (Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, DE). Further keynote speakers will be announced soon.

In addition, for the first time, a 1.5-day “Next Generation Breeders” workshop for doctoral candidates and postdocs will be held from 17-18 March, i.e. directly before the GPZ main conference. This is intended to offer the “breeders of tomorrow” a platform for scientific exchange and networking with invited experts. In this context, the “Young GPZ” will be founded by electing representatives who will be part of the GPZ board in the future.

Please mark the 19-21 March 2024 for the German Plant Breeding Conference 2024, and the 17-18 March 2024 for the Next Generation Breeders-Workshop in your calendars. Further details will be shared shortly.

Canada is hosting the 6th International Symposium on Fusarium Head Blight in 2024

The last time where the international FHB community met was in Brazil in 2016. Canada is ready to greet and host world class scientists at the beautiful Niagara peninsula, in Ontario in 2024! You will have the best of science and the best view of the Niagara Falls at this conference!
During these intervening years, many FHB scientists have retired, but “new blood” has entered and invigorated the field. We are looking forward to hearing about them and their new ideas. We will explore ideas in the microbiome, machine learning and synthetic biology applications to address FHB. How are agronomy models, adapting to the reality of climate changes and are policies and regulatory issues keeping up with the pace of new technologies of gene editing?
Let us meet and learn in Niagara!

da die Deutsche Pflanzenschutztagung aufgrund der Verschiebung wegen Corona jetzt am 26.-29.09.2023 stattfindet, haben wir beschlossen, die Resistenztagung der AG 7 („Fortschritte in der Krankheitsbekämpfung und Resistenzzüchtung“) in FULDA ebenfalls um ein Jahr zu verlegen. Die nächste Tagung findet deshalb

vom 09. bis 10. Dezember 2024 wieder im Kolpinghaus in Fulda statt.
